Candy Sushi

Patrick & I went to his firm's Halloween party. I went very hungry so that I could fill my tummy with tasty Halloween treats once I arrived. When we made our way into a lantern lined mansion on a lake, I had very high expectations for the food inside. Disappointment. I think the food there can be described as ritzy food. Lots of stuffed mushrooms, various meats on a stick, and come kind of flat bread with toppings that I could not decipher & thus chose not to eat. I decided that although I do not like pasteurized cheese products, dinner kits, or cream of ? soups, I am not a ritzy foodie girl. I am a down home, Chex mix loving, cup cakes with icing & sprinkles kind of girl. I like things homemade with love not meat threaded through a stick being handed out by a waiter in a black bow tie.
At our family Halloween party my mom made warm soup, corn bread, and lots of treats that filled my belly & warmed my soul. You could taste the love that went into this meal, no bow ties needed. I made this candy sushi while my mom made corn bread & Audrey played in the Tupperware cabinet. It was sweet & easy just like this recipe.

Ingredients:
  • 4 large marshmallows
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ cup rice cereal
  • 2 cherry or strawberry twists, such as Twizzlers
  • 2 fruit roll-ups

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the marshmallows with the butter over low heat. Add the rice cereal and stir to coat; let cool slightly. Cut the cherry twists to the length of the fruit roll-ups. Unroll the fruit roll-ups and peel off the plastic film. Place half of the rice cereal mixture on the edge of each roll-up. Place the twists in the center of the rice mixture and roll up the candy sushi. Cut into 2-inch pieces
